Falasteen

It’s been 666 days since the genocide began in Palestine. I was reflecting on my position as an artist early in my journey and how unconsciously apolitical I was in my work. I’ve always been an advocate for nature and uplifting indigenous wisdom, but I was mostly focused on spiritual pursuits, and figured as long as I left more beauty behind in the world, I’d be a part of the solution. There’s a certain detachedness that comes with being raised in american society, a self-centeredness and inflated sense of individuality that i’ve had to reckon with. This culture of separation veils people from understanding their complicity in these systems of oppression and harm. It’s impossible to unsee once your heart is touched by the truth.

I’ll truly never be the same. The more I witness, the more responsibility I yield to create in a truthful way. My values have deepened and my heart continues to expand. Despite how easy it is to fall into despair, I believe in the power of music to create change. It can plant a seed of hope, open minds to a greater perspective, guide a lost soul home, and inspire people to move.

I’m hoping this song can help push the path forward towards a Free Palestine; a vital step towards collective liberation.

100% of the money made from people downloading “Falasteen” from my bandcamp, will be donated to mutual aid organizations that I’ll rotate every month. For the month of August, all donations will go towards Bridge of Solidarity: an anti-capitalist mutual aid organization whose efforts are focused on the most marginalized and at risk of dying in Gaza.

The song is also accessible for streaming everywhere except spotify, cuz we don’t support AI-powered military technology around here.

“The true use of music is to become musical in one's thoughts, words and actions. One should be able to give the harmony for which the soul yearns and longs every moment. All the tragedy in the world, in the individual and in the multitude, comes from lack of harmony, and harmony is best given by producing it in one's own life.” — Hazrat Inayat Khan • The Mysticism of Sound and Music
